Avis cancellation fees depend on when you paid and when you needed to cancel your booking. If you do not pre-pay for your reservation, generally no cancellation fee applies.

If you have opted to ‘Pay Now’ for your Avis reservation to get a discount, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $82.50 if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance, or $165 if you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled pick-up time. If you simply do not show up for your scheduled pick-up, you will not be refunded.

Thanks to the partnership between Avis and Qantas, you can pay for your car rental using your Qantas Frequent Flyer points. When you make your reservation, get to the checkout and choose ‘Use Qantas Points’. You’ll receive a prompt to log in to your Qantas account and choose to pay for part or all of your rental using points.

The Avis app gives you the option to keep track of your current car rentals, even while you’re out and about. Make reservations and update your rentals from the app. Save your rental preferences for faster future bookings, and extend your rental return date. You can extend your return date even if your rental has already started.

If you’re an Avis Preferred member, you will receive tailored deals and special offers from Avis and the company’s partners, and you can streamline your partner rewards so you automatically earn points on future rentals.

Avis Preferred members also receive priority service at over 3,000 locations around the world, faster pick-up, faster bookings, and a free additional driver. For any Avis booking, you will be automatically included as a driver for your rental, as will your partner or work colleague – however, if you are also an Avis Preferred member, you can add a third driver at no extra cost.

You can earn points with your Avis vehicle rental with any of the airlines, hotels, or other companies partnered with Avis. Hotel partners include Best Western, Hyatt Hotels, and Wyndham Hotels. Other partners are Aeroplan, Millemiglia, Trenitalia, and Deutsche Bahn.
